Surviving the daddy daughter date:
the importance of a male role model
There's always the question
that seems torn on online reviews. Is the daddy daughter date important? I'm
not going to make that decision for anybody. I will however reference some
information on the positives and negatives and give you my opinion at the end.
Having two daughters myself, writing this has educated me on another level.
From what i
have researched and gained from personal experience, it seems that the father
or father figure is just as an important role to our daughters as the mother.
Now, it may seem the daughters tend to stick to the mother more just as father
and son because it's true. They do. But the sidelines are always watched, taken
in, listening, just as much at the participation of the “popular” parent.

In this
article at psychcentral.com, it gives quite the insight.
I’ve shortened these top 10’s a little bit. Now, these are by no means here to
make any father or father figure feel stupid. Some are obvious, and that's ok.
Don't act like some of us idiots don't need a reminder or two every once in a
while.
1.
Love her mother: if you cannot love her mother then you need
to find something to admire and respect about her to talk with your daughter
about.
2.
Attach to your daughter: studies have shown that most
daughters are ok with doing the same things that your sons are. They love
fishing, throwing the ball, “boys” movies, legos, guns, etc.
3.
Attach to safety: 9%-28% of woman have reported sexual abuse
or assault as a child. If your first thought is “more woman telling stories”
than please do not subscribe to this page. Nobody is saying by a father or
father figure. This is an overall number and disgustingly high. What if your daughter
said this? Would it just be another story? We need to strengthen our daughters
by teaching, showing, and educating them in personal boundaries, modesty, and
privacy. Not by force or overwhelming control. As much as we would love too, we
cannot lock up our children.
4.
Celebrate her mind: be interested! Women's basketball, dance,
ballet, cheerleading, fishing, camping, football, doesn't matter. Grab that
sack and pink it the fuck up!!! Go to her scheduled things. Show interest. Talk
to her about your work. About your day. Nothing too adult. Doesn't even have to
be important. But show you are a pair, a team, and the loudest most badass
tattooed, beard wearing, claymore yielding father in that sexy tutu! in the end
she needs as much as you need her. Tiny talk and support is best. Read to her.
Play with her. Which leads directly into the next-
5.
Go to her wants: she needs you there to witness her skill,
efforts, and achievements. If not there to high five at #1, then to be a
shoulder for the dead last. Just remember, she's not going to that college
scholarship yet so watch the constructive criticism.
6.
Tell her she's pretty: compliment how she moves in sports, how
she dresses for school, or does her hair. A boost of confidence from dad as
sincerity, not sexuality is a must.
7.
Show a man can negotiate with a woman: inside the battle of
the sexes, you might want to just straight up belittle or embarrass the woman
you are arguing with because if she wants to dish it, she's gonna take it
too!!!! Wait! Remember that badass beautiful perfect princess is watching and
listening all the time. Take a step back. Control with respect. Stay calm. Meet
in the middle. You don't want her thinking that's ok in an argument with her
future significant other.
8.
Treat woman how you want your daughter to be treated: rather
it be the bitchy mother in-law, or the asshole boss, maybe even the coworker
you just want to rant about with a bud. Once again, that badass beautiful
perfect princess is always watching and listening. Take it somewhere far away.
9.
Treat her how you want her future partner to treat her:
obvious right? Duh. But i've felt myself slip once or twice…...we need to be
careful. We are important too. No matter what anyone says about us.
10.
Show her a man that she would want to marry: without sexualizing
a child our your daughter, try to show her how her spouse should treat her.
Respect. Modesty. Trust. Love.
